Mobile Communications Group (MCG)

DescriptionMobile Communications Group (MCG) is composed of about 30 professors and researchers developing different activities related to the area of wireless communications. First, the MCG has extensive knowledge in broadcast technologies DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting) such as T/T2, H / SH, S, NGH. In your facility have a laboratory full of DVB operating end-to-end and a pilot network DVB-T / H on the campus of the UPV. The MCG also owns a DVB-T/H/SH/T2 measurement system has been successfully tested in several pilot and actively participates in the forum DVB standardization. Moreover, the MCG is an important activity in the area of wireless technology, where we highlight the planning and optimization of UMTS, HSDPA and LTE, management and radio resource optimization in 3GPP networks, and cognitive radio systems transmission techniques for the next generation DVB fixed and mobile systems.

Prof. Narcis Cardona, who heads the Mobile Communications Group, is currently the chairman of the COST ACTION IC1004, European benchmark for research in the area of mobile communications. In addition, the MCG leads the Master in Communications and Mobile Development Services in partnership with the Vodafone Foundation. Publications Mean Mobile Communications Group of 16 papers per year, with the largest contributions to the journals IEEE Networks, IEEE Communications Magazine, IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Communication Letters, IEE Electronics Letters, IEEE Transactions on broadcasting and EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking.

In the private sector, the mobile communications group collaborates with national and international companies in the telecommunications sector, as SistelBanda, SistelNetworks, Ingenia Telecom, BMW Munich, Abertis, LG electronics, Vodafone, Axion, Egatel, Sapec, TesAmérica, Hispasat , RAI Italy, etc.. This technology transfer has been carried out in various ways, from small technical studies to large-scale contracts, and forming part of R & D projects funded by national and European plans, from plans Avanza, Innpacto, etc.. to the current Seventh Framework Programme of the European Union.
