In an exciting milestone for the Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications (iTEAM), the institution is proud to celebrate its twentieth anniversary in 2024. To mark this special year, on May 17th, International Telecommunications Day, an institutional event will take place at Fundación Bancaja in Valencia at 12:00 PM. During this event, there will be a journey through the history of the Institute, and a report on the impact of Telecommunications Technologies on Society and the regional science and innovation system will be presented.
Additionally, to commemorate two decades of research, development, innovation, and transfer, iTEAM has collaborated with the renowned illustrator and author Paco Roca to create a special commemorative poster. These 20 years represent a path of scientific excellence and innovation thanks to the effort and enthusiasm of all the researchers who have been part of it, the support of the Universitat Politècnica de València, and the international recognition achieved by its two directors, Mr. José Capmany Francoy and Mr. Narcís Cardona Marcet.
In these 20 years, iTEAM is proud to have supervised 216 doctoral theses, led and participated in over 1,300 research projects, surpassed the figure of 1,600 scientific publications, obtained 57 granted patents, some of which were exploited through the 5 spin-offs created, and received 71 awards, including a Jaume I Award, a National Research Award, and an Academy of Physics Award. These figures demonstrate that iTEAM is not just a research institute but an ecosystem of innovation and a driving force for growth in the Telecommunications sector in the Valencian Community.
The celebration of iTEAM’s twentieth anniversary will include a series of events, conferences, and activities that will highlight the milestones achieved.
