For three months, Aleksandr Voronov, PhD student at the Microwave Applications Group (GAM) of iTEAM, carried out a research stay at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). There he collaborated with the Wireless Technologies Group (GTI) on the development of a horn antenna integrated with a GRIN dielectric lens (Gradient Index Lens).
The project involved additive manufacturing through 3D printing (SLA) of both the antenna (later metallized with copper) and the lens, which was kept dielectric. The supports were produced with PLA filament, completing an innovative assembly that achieved a gain of 6 dB in the 18 to 22 GHz frequency range.
Beyond the technical results, the stay fostered an intense exchange of knowledge and experiences in the field of microwaves and antenna design.
