José Capmany Francoy, director of the Photonics Research Labs (PRL) at iTEAM, was formally inducted yesterday as a Full Member of the Real Academia de Ingeniería de España (RAI). His inaugural lecture, titled “Bits and Chips of Light,” offered a synthesis of his extensive career in the fields of integrated photonics and optical communications.
“As a full member, I aspire to contribute my effort and dedication to strengthening Engineering in Spain, fostering its internationalization, and promoting its understanding and appreciation throughout society. I also aim to attract young talent to this professional field, which is key to common well-being,” adds Capmany.
