David López-Pérez, Distinguished Researcher from the MCG group at the iTEAM of the UPV, has received the Best Paper Award in the Mobile and Wireless Networks category at the IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC) 2025, organized by the IEEE Communications Society.
The award-winning paper, titled “Capacity and Power Consumption of Multi-Layer 6G Networks Using the Upper Mid-Band,” was co-authored with Nicola Piovesan from Huawei Technologies and Giovanni Geraci from Universitat Pompeu Fabra. It introduces a new system model for multi-layer massive MIMO 6G deployments and provides novel insights into the trade-offs between capacity and energy consumption when operating in the centimeter-wave (FR3) band.
