GTS participates in the new Underwater Noise Management Committee

The Underwater Noise Management Committee is a pioneering initiative that brings together public administrations, research centers, industry, and civil society with the aim of agreeing on and implementing measures to reduce the impact of underwater noise on marine ecosystems.

Ramón Miralles, from the GTS group at iTEAM, is a member of the committee, contributing his expertise in underwater acoustics and modelling to the development of science- and technology-based solutions for more sustainable port management.

Key participating organizations include the Port Authority of Cartagena, Puertos del Estado, MITECO, UPV, UPCT, IEO-CSIC, and CTN, as well as representatives from the maritime industry such as Maersk, and social organizations and environmental NGOs including IFAW and Ocean Care.

The creation of this committee highlights the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration and the role of research in protecting marine biodiversity and fostering innovation in the port sector.
