Microwave Applications Group (GAM)

Description

The Microwave Applications Group (GAM) focuses its research on the development of techniques for analysis and design of passive components are implemented in various techonogies: coaxial, waveguide, planar and hybrid (dielectric substrate integrated guides, SIW) and employing conductors, dielectrics, periodic structures (EBGs) and tuning elements (varactors, micro systems-electro-mechanical as MEMs).
GAM applies methods of analysis and synthesis to the efficient design of such components to be used in many different communications systems, with special emphasis in space (satellite payloads and Earth stations), but also in mobile communications, wireless, RADAR systems and defense applications. The group also deals with the design and use of space platforms for small size (pico and nano-satellites) for science missions, technology and sustainability, as well as the development and implementation of satellite communication systems for remote sensing applications ( processing image of microwave, infrared and visible) and navigation (Galileo).
The group’s activity began in 1997, and it is current composed by 15 members, including researchers and support staff. Additionally, there is a seamless collaboration with other national universities ( Universitat de València, Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena, Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche, Universidad de Alicante, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, Universidad Pública de Navarra y Universidad de Sevilla ) and international ( University of Pavia and University of Perugia in Italy, University of Brest and University of Limoges in France, University of Maryland in USA and University of Waterloo in Canada).
Collaborations with major companies such as Thales Alenia Space , RYMSA, EADS-CASA, COM DEV, TESAT and Aurora Software and Testing (Spin-off from the research group) among others are remarkable, as well as the close relationship is maintained with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Val Space Consortium (VSC). We invite you to visit our website and discover scientific activities, facilities and training that we offer.
