Physiological Radar: Pioneering Biomedical Monitoring and Smart Building Solutions by Olga Borić-Lubecke and Victor Manuel Lubecke

At the core of this innovation lies the concept of Physiological Radar, a groundbreaking development that promises non-invasive and real-time monitoring of vital signs and human activity through clothing and bedding.

Olga Borić–Lubecke and Victor Manuel Lubecke, from the University of Hawaii (Manoa, Honolulu), will visit ITEAM’s laboratories and unveil the latest advancements in this field at their upcoming talk titled “Physiological Radar: Pioneering Biomedical Monitoring and Smart Building Solutions”. Scheduled for April 24th, 2024, at ETSIT-UPV, this event promises to offer insights into the state-of-the-art Doppler radar technology and its diverse applications.

With a combined expertise spanning decades in electrical engineering and extensive research backgrounds at prestigious institutions like Caltech, Bell Laboratories, and NASA JPL, Professors Borić–Lubecke and Lubecke are at the forefront of radar-based biomedical monitoring. Both are IEEE Fellows, and Dr. Lubecke is an emeritus Distinguished Microwave Lecturer (DML) IEEE MTT-S.

The talk will delve into the capabilities of compact and cost-effective radar systems that can measure a wide array of physiological parameters, including heart and respiratory rates, sleep patterns, and activity levels. This technology not only holds immense promise for healthcare applications but also extends its utility to areas such as search and rescue operations, secure authentication systems, and the development of smart buildings.
