iTEAM hosts the scientific talk “Nematic Liquid Crystals for mm-Wave Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces: a Hardware Perspective” by Alejandro Jiménez-Sáez

Alejandro Jiménez-Sáez, who received the Athene Young Investigator award at the Technical University of Darmstadt and leads the independent research group on Smart RF Systems based on Artificial and Functional Materials, delivered a scientific talk on May 2nd about the basic physical principles and history of nematic LCs for microwave and mm-Wave frequencies.

The talk also addressed flat phase modulators based on Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) technology. These phase modulators can achieve high compactness, wide bandwidth, and fast response times simultaneously.
