6G technology, based on Artificial Intelligence, could be launched in 2030

The Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications (iTEAM) and the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) stand out in the discussion about the future of 6G technology on Radio Valencia Cadena SER.

Narcís Cardona, director of the iTEAM at the Universitat Politècnica de València, highlighted the evolution towards a revolutionary communication network: “We will move from a 5G network that connected devices to exchange data through infrastructure based on cables and antennas, to a 6G network that, thanks to artificial intelligence, will connect artificial intelligences. In this new era, what will be transmitted is more knowledge rather than data itself.”

This advancement in the development of 6G technology has been the subject of debate and analysis at two key international events recently organized by the iTEAM at UPV, in collaboration with the IEEE Communications Society and the One6G organization: the IEEE PIMRC 2024 and the One6G Summit. Both events brought together leading experts in telecommunications and 6G technology, solidifying UPV as a benchmark in next-generation communications.

The participation of UPV’s iTEAM in these events has been crucial in bringing to the forefront the importance of artificial intelligence in the development of future 6G networks. These networks will not only facilitate connections between devices but also enable interactions between artificial intelligence systems to share and generate knowledge in a more advanced and efficient way.
