Saúl Fenollosa and Carlos Villena, researchers from the MCG group, have received the Best Demo Award for their demonstration, “CHIRP: Distributed ISAC with Unsynchronized FMCW Sensors,” at the one6G Summit 2026.
Held at King’s College London, the event brought together researchers and professionals in the field of communications and 6G technologies, providing a platform to present this proposal developed at iTEAM.
The demo showcases how a distributed network of three independent, unsynchronized FMCW sensors can enhance sensing capabilities by exploiting signals from the nodes themselves, without requiring prior information exchange, synchronization, or coordination between them. The system was demonstrated in real time during the Summit, displaying both monostatic sensing results and measurements obtained through the different bistatic links.
The proposal opens up possibilities for applications such as autonomous driving, robotics, and other distributed scenarios, where devices need to autonomously detect and identify surrounding nodes while enhancing their sensing performance.
Congratulations, Saúl and Carlos!
