Jorge Sastre, from the Signal Processing Group (GTS), participated in VEXATIONS (1893) by Erik Satie, an immersive and multidisciplinary experience presented as part of the ENSEMS Festival 2026.
Held in the garden of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Universitat Politècnica de València, the 12-hour experience reimagined Satie’s iconic piece through a combination of live music, Soundcool audio processing and interactive video.
Two vibraphones performed in continuous dialogue while Soundcool enabled live audio processing, creating a surround sound environment in which visitors could also interact with the audiovisual elements. The experience was further enriched by contemporary dance performances from the Conservatorio Superior de Danza de Valencia (CSDV), bringing together sound, technology, movement and gesture in a shared creative space.
The project brought together several artistic and technological teams. Projecte SoXXI was represented by Óscar Martí, Josep Furió, Andreu Queralt, Miguel Ángel Real, Sergi Dauder and Joan Soriano. Soundcool involved Stefano Scarani, Nuria Lloret Romero and Jorge Sastre, while Sound Art UPV was represented by Miguel Molina and Stefano Scarani.
The audiovisual production was carried out by POLIWOOD UPV, with Jesús Cebrián Miralles, Carme Ferrer Alòs, Pablo Gómez Cruzans and Darío España Asensio. The movement direction was developed by Carmen Gimenez Morte and Paula Serrano from the Conservatorio Superior de Danza de Valencia (CSDV).
