Researchers, faculty members and innovation staff from the iTEAM Institute of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) participated in the Beihang International Summer School (BISS) 2026, held from 13 to 26 July at the Beihang Hangzhou International Campus (China).

The iTEAM delegation was composed of researchers from the PRL and MCG groups, faculty members and innovation staff. The participants included Pablo Martínez Carrasco, Raúl López March, Daniel Bermejo Asensio, Oxel Arnal Martínez and Jose Rausell Campo,  from the PRL group; Mauro Tarazona Levano, Alejandro Villegas Padilla y Sergio Castelló from the MCG group; as well as innovation agent Alicia Abad.

As part of the academic programme, Professors Narcís Cardona and David López delivered lectures in the course “The 3rd International Terahertz Summer School (THz+6G+AI)”, focused on terahertz technologies, 6G communications and artificial intelligence. In addition, Narcís Cardona took part in the official opening ceremony of the Summer School.

The BISS 2026 brought together students and faculty members from universities around the world and included a strong UPV representation, providing an international environment for advanced training in artificial intelligence, photonics, robotics, nanoelectronics and 6G technologies.

During their stay, iTEAM members had the opportunity to visit research laboratories, participate in activities aimed at discovering Chinese culture, and establish new synergies with international faculty members, researchers and students.

The Summer School takes place at the same campus that hosts the Beihang Valencia Polytechnic Institute (BVPI), the new joint Beihang-UPV institute, where David López serves as Dean. The BVPI will begin its academic activity in the 2026/2027 academic year, offering undergraduate, master’s and PhD programmes taught entirely in English.
